Traxxas T-Maxx 2.5

Traxxas T-Maxx 2.5Less than three years after introducing the original T-Maxx RC monster truck, Traxxas replaced it with the T-Maxx 2.5. The new truck featured a ton of upgrades over the original including an extended “Maxx” suspension, larger turnbuckles, a thicker chassis and heavy duty drive shafts. Of course, the most exciting improvement was the new engine. While the truck was still being powered by a .15ci nitro engine, the new Traxxas TRX 2.5 powerplant was now being used. Features include a new Integrated Pilot Shaft (IPS) crankshaft, a new lightweight piston and connecting rod, a stylish cast aluminum cooling head, a high performance composite tuned exhaust, and a slide carburetor. In total, Traxxas claimed a 60% increase in power over the TRX .15 engine and 10mph faster top speed!

The new “Maxx” suspension system consisted of longer, and more durable, double wishbone suspension arms that increased the truck’s width by over an inch. For further tuning options, new shock towers with additional shock mounting locations were also added to the truck. Traxxas chose to replace the original 2.5mm aluminum chassis with an all new 3mm unit. That half a millimeter increase in thickness resulted in a 50% increase in front to rear stiffness and 70% torsional rigidity. To further add strength, the T-Maxx 2.5 received larger diameter, heavy duty driveshafts as well as new 3.5mm steel turnbuckles.
