Meet the Team Xray NT1 2015 Edition! Xray took the already awesome NT1 platform and updated it once again with tons of new parts including a new chassis, aluminum bulkheads, aluminum rear 2 speed shaft bulkheads, aluminum suspension mounts, new steering blocks, new radio plate, improved caster adjustment range, new graphite shock towers, and much more. The most significant change to the latest NT1 platform is the all-new aluminum backbone. The main frame and backbone of the car consists of high-precision aluminum bulkheads and aluminum suspension holders that are mounted to the aluminum chassis. All bulkhead parts are CNC machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum and have been designed to provide the lightest and strongest possible support framework for the car with maximum flex characteristics to increase the traction. The bulkheads are anodized in a distinctive orange color. XRAY’s legendary attention to detail is noticeable in all the precisely chamfered edges.
The Team Xray NT1 2015 chassis has been redesigned to accommodate the new aluminum bulkheds and the suspension holders. The chassis has enhanced performance in the corners and provides great stability. Overall, the chassis is very narrow to increase chassis flex and thus generate more traction and steering. The narrow chassis also prevents chassis contact in corners and helps to eliminate the feel of the car ‘stopping‘ in mid corner.
The lightweight chassis is CNC-machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum and is strategically machined in low-stress areas to make it as light as possible without adversely affecting strength or rigidity. The area under the engine features air-flow cut-outs for extra cooling airflow.
The outer edges of the NT1 2015 chassis have been beveled and screw holes have been countersunk to make a smooth lower surface. The chassis can accommodate graphite reinforcement inserts or additional balancing weights (front and rear) to tune chassis stiffness, balance, and CG.
One of the most significant changes to the latest NT1 platform is the all-new aluminum bulkheads. With changing rules going to spec, large size, hard tires, the traditional composite bulkheads were changed for aluminum. The new aluminum bulkheads provide optimal stiffness and flex characteristics for improved steering characteristics even with hard spec tires.
Team Xray NT1 2015 aluminum bulkheads were designed to retain the well-proven geometry of NT1. Mounting positions on the chassis were placed in order to achieve the best possible flex characteristics for maximum traction and steering. The super-lightweight bulkheads have a very clean and lightweight design to give the lowest weight and CG, making the NT1 easy to service while still giving easy access to all parts. All bulkhead parts are CNC-machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum to ensure the lightest & strongest support framework for the car.
All-new aluminum rear 2-speed shaft bulkheads are separated from the rear bulkheads to give proper flex which translates into maximum traction. All the ball-bearings are installed in composite bushings to eliminate transfer of vibrations from the engine. The bulkheads are CNC-machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum to ensure the lightest & strongest support framework for the 2-speed. The bulkheads are anodized in a distinctive orange color. XRAY’s legendary attention to detail is noticeable in all the precisely chamfered edges.
Middle Shaft Holder
The Team Xray NT1 newly-redesigned aluminum front middle shaft holder has reduced weight and has easier access to the front belt and pulley for easier maintenance. The smarter design also allows for quick & easy front belt changes. The muffler mount is also incorporated into the new holder. The holder is CNC-machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum to be lightweight and super strong.
The all-new upper clamps were designed to fit the new aluminum bulkheads. The rear upper clamps hold the rear shock tower as well as the graphite-roll center bridge. For extra roll center adjustment possibilities, the graphite-roll center bridge can be removed and the rear linkage can be mounted directly to the upper clamps which improves cornering speed and steering in high-traction conditions.
Both the front & rear upper clamps feature integrated belt-tension adjustment using adjustable bearing eccentric holders, eliminating the need for a separate belt tensioner. All ball-bearings turn in composite hubs to reduce friction and improve drivetrain efficiency. The smart design of the NT1 allows super-easy front & rear diff access. The front diff can be accessed by removing 6 screws, while the rear diff can be accessed by removing only 4 screws. The super-lightweight upper clamps have a very clean and lightweight design to create the lowest weight and CG, making the NT1 easy to service and retaining easy access to all parts.
The Team Xray NT1 2015’s new front and rear suspension holders are CNC machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 and are fully independent from the bulkheads, mounted directly to the chassis to increase traction and make the car easier to drive. Suspension mounts were designed to retain the NT1’s well-proven geometry.the mounting positions on the chassis were placed in order to achieve best possible flex characteristics for maximum traction and steering characteristics.
Front Upper Arm Holders
The all-new front upper arm holders were designed to work with the new aluminum bulkheads. Each upper front arm holder is mounted to the bulkhead via a single screw and to the radio plate with only two screws. In this way, the front suspension has optimized flex for improved in-corner steering and better steering response. One of the 2 mounting screws from the radio plate may be removed for even more flex as a part of the Multi-Flex system.
The front upper arm holders were designed in such a way to allow the upper arms to be moved more forward, which reduces caster angle and improves in-corner steering and steering response. With the new design of the front upper arm holders, a greater range of caster adjustment is available. The front upper arm holders are CNC-machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum to provide the lightest & strongest support framework for the car.
Front Upper Arm
The front upper arm was redesigned to work with the new front upper arm holder. With the 1- piece design of the suspension holder, the arm includes a new mounting hole for a set screw that secures the arm to the pivot pin to ensure the arm will not fall out. With the new mounting of the front upper arm, the upper eccentric bushings were redesigned to be straight through.
The Team Xray NT1 steering blocks were redesigned for use with a graphite Ackermann plate which allows greater Ackermann and bump-steer adjustment range. The graphite Ackermann plate is mounted to the steering block and features 3 different Ackermann positions. The plate is also mounted lower compared to previous steering block design, which allows the steering linkage to be moved lower to gain more bumpsteer (giving increased steering response and improved in-corner steering). Bump steer can be easily changed by adding or removing shims.
The compact rear uprights are small in size but thanks to the special composite mixture used, they are also very strong. Thanks to perfect molding, bearings fit into the rear uprights without any extra play and therefore give maximum stability.
The radio plate was redesigned to accommodate the new aluminum bulkheads. A brand new and very useful new feature is the front Multi-Flex adjustment via radio plate bushing in the servo saver area. When the bushing is used, the fixed setting is activated; when the bushing is removed, the screw is directly mounted on the servo saver post and the whole front suspension has increased flex.
The fixed setting is recommended when there is sufficient in-corner steering. To increase the in-corner steering, the flex setting can be easily adjusted. The radio plate allows mounting of the center body mount, and there is more space around the fuel tank to allow more movement. The radio plate is an integral part of Multi-Flex setting, and allows for very quick & easy flex adjustment. Bushings on the back of the radio plate allow it to be attached to the mounts either rigidly or with an allowance for flex. The ‘rigidly fixed’ setting is recommended for high traction conditions. The ‘flex’ setting is recommended for low-traction tracks to generate more traction.
Rear Stiffener Link
The NT1 rear stiffener link was designed to enhance the flex characteristics around the engine area. The link can be mounted on the right side 2-speed bulkhead and right-side composite radio plate mount. The link provides optimized flex characteristics and can be easily removed when extra steering needed.
Both front and rear NT1 shock towers were redesigned to fit the new aluminum bulkheads. The well-proven shock mounting positions were retained. Machined from premium-grade 2.5mm (front) and 3.0mm (rear) graphite, the shock towers are small & lightweight.
The roll-center bridge was redesigned to fit the new aluminum bulkheads and features six roll center positions for the rear upper linkage. The roll center positions are identical to previous positions. Machined from premium-grade 2.5mm graphite, the bridge is small & lightweight.
Rear Anti-roll Bar System
Anti-roll bars are manufactured from special spring steel material and are included to stabilize the car at both front and rear. The all-new anti-roll bar system is mounted to the front & rear bulkheads via ball-bearings from inside for extra-smooth movement and quick & easy changes and adjustment. The anti-roll bar turns in ball-bearings for maximum precision and free movement.
Low CG Platform
Thanks to the very intelligent design concept and engineering, all parts are positioned ultra-low to create a very low CG resulting in super-stable and precise handling.

Fuel Tank Mounting
The 75cc fuel tank with hypertonic tank lid and internal stone-type filter is positioned in the center of the car, and features a unique low-profile design to allow the fuel tank to sit as low as possible. The fuel tank is mounted with rummber grommets and O-ring with a special screw to reduce vibration. With extra space around the fuel tank in the radio plate, the fuel tank has greater movement in all directions which improves fuel pickup and scavenging as fuel is used up. The fuel tank is molded from a special composite mixture which guarantees it to be extremely strong and robust. The fuel tank is glued together using a special self-developed robotic system that ensures maximum accuracy and precision in pre-heating and gluing.
Center Body Mount
The radio plate features an extra hole to allow the mounting of the center body mount which protects the body from deformation while refueling and also increases car stability in highspeed corners.
The battery holder allows to fit the most common LiPo or LiFe batteries. The receiver battery pack can be easily removed from below the fuel tank by a quick access composite cover at the bottom of the chassis. Optional graphite cover contains a special CNC-machined pocket in which to place the batteries, allowing the batteries to sit as low as possible. The main feature of the graphite cover is its integrated Multi-Flex Technology functionality to additionally reinforce the chassis in the vertical plane.
Compact lightweight radio case features a clean design and layout. The radio case is attached to the side of the radio plate and will fit any standard-size receiver and optional switch with water-resistant rubber cover.
The shocks provide maximum traction and steering characteristics, and optimized up & down travel. Long shock bodies accommodate the long shock shafts, and pistons are made from special white Delrin material with optimized hole number and sizes. Shock rods have been specifically hardened to ensure long life and maximum strength. The set of pistons include 2 and 3-hole pistons with 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2mm diameter holes. The pistons are molded using special methods from Delrin material to ensure extreme roundness, while maintaining maximum stiffness and durability. Shock bodies are CNC-machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum and hardened to ensure maximum lifespan. External fine threading allows for quick & easy ride height adjustment. The shocks feature low-profile membranes for super-smooth, precise damping.
The NT1 comes equipped with C5.4 springs in the front to provide maximum stability and steering, and C4.0 springs in the rear to provide maximum traction and cornering speed. The NT1 springs, like all other XRAY springs, are manually measured, selected and matched into pairs to guarantee precisely equal length and damping characteristics.
The quick-set 2-piece engine mounts are CNC-machined from premium high-strength aircraft aluminum. The standard 2-piece engine mount was designed and tested to allow the right amount of chassis flex to suit most driving styles and racing conditions. For specific racing conditions or driving styles, the middle of the chassis can be additionally reinforced by installing optional 1-piece engine mount.
Gear Mesh Adjustment
The intelligent engine mount design allows to set and fix the engine position for optimal gear mesh adjustment. Thanks to the specially-shaped gear teeth, the gears always have the same gear mesh which ensures that the engine can be in the same position and there is no need for engine position fine-tuning. After initial gear mesh is set, the engine position is permanently set; the engine can be installed/reinstalled at any time without the need to re-adjust the gear mesh.
With the intelligent design and construction of all drivetrain parts, the transmission is supersmooth and low-friction. From the small diffs, through the efficient ratios and lightweight pulleys, to the high-speed lightly-oiled bearings and lightweight drivetrain parts, all parts are designed for maximum efficiency and durability.
The Team Xray NT1 2015 tiny drive shafts are manufactured from HUDY Spring Steel™, the most effective drive shaft material by the industry leader HUDY. Self-developed HUDY Spring Steel™ ensures the longest possible drive shaft life, maximum strength, and lowest weight. NT1 front constant velocity drives (CVDs) and rear dogbone drive shafts are manufactured from HUDY Spring Steel. The drive shafts are some of the world‘s thinnest yet most durable drive shafts used.
Rear Dogbone Drive Shafts
The rear drivetrain features dogbone drive shafts which help to generate more traction for the car. To accommodate the new dogbone style drive shafts, the rear wheel axles were also updated.
The diffs in the NT1 are small and light, ensuring lowest rotating mass and lowest CG. Rubber-sealed composite differential housings are molded from a special composite mixture that ensures non-expansion and non-deformation during operation and long runs, which would otherwise negatively influence the free movement of the gears inside. Differential gears are made from pressed steel, heat-treated and machined for ultra-precise and smooth operation.
All pulleys are molded from a special composite mixture to ensure low-friction operation, efficient and strong tooth profiles, and long lifespan.
PUR Drive Belts
The drivetrain is operated by PUR – reinforced high-efficiency low-friction drive belts, which ensure that all power is properly and efficiently transferred to all drivetrain parts.
The 2-speed transmission parts are installed on a precision-manufactured super-smooth middle layshaft made from tough HUDY shaft steel for 2-speed, which is additionally heat-treated for extra strength and long life. The 2-speed gear adapter is CNC-machined from Swiss 7075 T6 for precise fitting of the one-way bearing, and allowing super-precise and wobble-free installation of the spur gears. The high-quality German one-way bearing is hand-ground before installation for maximum running precision and strength. The 2-speed adapter is manufactured from hardened steel.
The reverse clutch design provides smoother and faster acceleration, while increasing the lifespan of the clutch shoe. Easily-adjustable 3-shoe XCA (XRAY Centrifugal-Axial) clutch features clutch bell, clutch nut, flywheel nut, and thrust bearing collar made from exclusive HUDY Spring Steel. The hard coated flywheel, clutch disc, and spring cup are made from premium Swiss 7075 T6.
Precision-molded spur gears are made from XRAY’s exclusive secret blend of composite material, allowing the gears to run true and super quiet, and be robust enough to handle the power of a modern nitro engine. The spur gears are molded with a special technique allowing the gears to be absolutely true thus improving the drivetrain efficiency. Each gear is stamped with a tooth number for easy identification.
The NT1 features the most advanced, race-engineered suspension geometry for touring car racing, and is designed to provide responsive racing characteristics under all racing conditions. Over the years, XRAY has successfully gained and utilized extensive suspension geometry knowledge and self-developed suspension stiffness technology, which have been used in electric touring car and off-road cars with great success. The ultra-lightweight suspension parts are molded from special composite materials that makes the parts very light yet very durable to withstand the rigors of high-performance racing.
Integrated Suspension Settings
The NT1 features I.S.S. (Integrated Suspension Settings) design. All adjustment possibilities are completely integrated, allowing complete set-up changes without changing or replacing any parts – no need for optional roll center, anti-dive or anti-squat blocks. High-tensile steel suspension pivot pins are polished for smooth suspension action, and all pivot pins are captured to eliminate the need for E-clips.
Suspension arms are one of the most important parts of any RC model car, as they directly influence the handling and racing characteristics of the car. The NT1 suspension arms are the result of long-term testing of different designs and layouts. Length, thickness, flexibility, geometry of suspension points and materials used… these are all the concepts and details that had to be thoroughly reviewed to create optimal suspension arms. The exclusive composite mixture used for suspension arms is a perfect balance between reliability and performance. The suspension arm itself is rigid enough to provide a responsive feel, yet soft enough to provide extreme durability.
The NT1 pivot ball suspension contains precision pivot balls which are specially hardened for enhanced lifespan and to withstand hard crashes. A total of eight (8) pivot balls are included and are captured by strong M10 composite nuts to minimize weight and give smooth suspension movement. Standard pivot balls are made from steel for maximum durability and lifespan. For those who are focused on minimizing unsprung weight, optional lightweight aluminum or titanium pivot balls are also available.
Aluminum Hex Hubs
Ultra-lightweight wheel hex drive hubs are CNC machined from Swiss 7075 T6 black-coated aluminum. These ultra-true hex hubs have a clamping design which ensures ultra-solid mounting of the wheel on the hub. The NT1’s aluminum hex hubs are specially machined to reduce rotating weight while guaranteeing wobble-free wheel mounting.
Hudy Spring Steel Turnbuckles
To guarantee maximum reliability, all turnbuckles are manufactured from special HUDY Spring Steel™ material for turnbuckles for maximum core strength.
