Tamiya Blackfoot

Tamiya BlackfootThe Tamiya Blackfoot was a 1/10 scale RC truck released in 1986. Much of the truck’s parts are based on the Tamiya Frog buggy. Everything from its space frame style chassis to its trailing arm suspension are all taken from the Frog. Differences between the two are mostly color changes, such as the Blackfoot’s red chassis, compared to the Frog’s grey chassis. The biggest changes, however, are what set it apart. The original Blackfoot featured large chevron tread pattern tires on bright yellow wheels. Topping it off was a highly detailed styrene Ford F-150 Ranger body, which was also taken from a previously available Tamiya model called the Tamiya Ford F-150 Ranger XLT.

The Blackfoot/Frog parts were later used on various other Tamiya vehicles including the Monster Beetle, which was basically a VW Beetle bodied Blackfoot with metallic gold wheels, as well as the Subaru Brat, Mud Blaster, Bush Devil and Lancia Rally.

The Blackfoot name was later used for multiple subsequent RC trucks including the Blackfoot Xtreme, King Blackfoot, Blackfoot III and Super Blackfoot. While the Super Blackfoot and King Blackfoot shared many parts with the original truck, the other two were completely new designs.
