Back in early 1993, MRC introduced their new World Scale line of RC trucks and buggies. At roughly 1/8th scale, these cars dwarfed the common 1/10 scale cars. They featured an aircraft aluminum chassis, twin 540 electric motors driving a common spur gear and slipper clutch, adjustable ball differentials and oil filled shocks. Initially the MRC World Scale vehicle lineup included the Thunder King truck as seen above, the Desert King which was basically a Thunder King with a different body and set of tires that gave it a stadium truck appearance, and a 2wd buggy named the Desert Thunder. Later MRC also offered these vehicles in nitro form featuring Thunder Tiger .21 nitro powerplants.
You can read more about these cars in the February 1993 issue of RCCA Magazine here.
