JConcepts Announces New 3Ds R/C Buggy Tires

Jconcepts 3Ds TiresStraight-out of the JConcepts Third Dimension are the creatively designed 3Ds 1/10th buggy race tire.  Debuted at the IFMAR World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand for the 1/8th buggy class, the 3Ds designed by Jason Ruona and tested by the JConcepts Team are a first of their kind.   Developed to be the ultimate Slick-groove tire, the 3Ds are a first to combine the high-stability design of a black groove bar tire into an individually flexible pattern of finely spaced Double Dee lugs in one package.   3Ds include the And-1 insert.

The roots of the 3Ds design came after extensive research and development over a period of 2 racing seasons.  As racing on both indoor and outdoor conditions have matured, a more flexible, supremely grippy tire design was necessary to drive the edgy, fast pace.  The 3Ds grip as a new, highly sought after, favorite in these conditions.

JConcepts Reveals Inverse Two Piece Buggy Wheels

Jconcepts Inverse Buggy WheelsJConcept revealed a new line of two piece buggy wheels this morning. Dubbed the Inverse, this innovative two piece design features 12mm hex wheel hubs designed for use with the Team Associated B4.1 and B44.1 offroad buggies. The 2-piece design provides several benefits for maximum performance and ease of use.   The inner wheel comes standard in a stealth, black matte finish providing the driver a look and feel never seen before.  In addition, the inner wheel is designed as a completely smooth surface for the cleanest fit and finish which resists debris build-up.  Previous industry standard designs with heavy ribbing have a tendency to catch debris which affects balance and weight and especially on surfaces with a lot of surface loam or loose dirt.

Pictures: Building The Tamiya Lunch Box

Tamiya Lunch Box BuildI don’t think it comes to the surprise of anyone who frequents this site that we here at RCNewz.com are big fans of Tamiya vehicles. The reasoning is simple, they offer many of their R/C cars and trucks in kit form and we love building kits. Kits were the cornerstone of what made this hobby so great back in the day and we hope to see more of them. In the past we’ve built a few other Tamiya R/C trucks but in those builds we went into detail on how everything assembled. For this build, however, we’re doing things a little different. With the Tamiya Lunch Box being such an easy to assemble kit we felt that the details weren’t needed. Instead this entire build is little more than pictures with quick descriptions! Enjoy!

Project Short Course: Team Associated SC10 Build

team_associated_sc10We just had to get one, it was inevitable. I’ll be the first to admit that after the Traxxas Slash was released I thought the short course race truck craze was nothing but a fad that would soon be all but forgotten. After all these are nothing more than stadium trucks with different tires and a larger body. What could really be that great? Then one day at the local hobby shop I saw one sitting on the shelf begging to be bought and the rest, as they say, is history. Here goes, our Team associated SC10 build.

Project Wrangler: Tamiya CC01 Jeep Wrangler Build

tamiya_jeep_wrangler_01The Tamiya Jeep Wrangler hard body has to be one of the most sought after Tamiya lids ever made. It first appeared on the CC-01 chassis as an ultra scale R/C truck, but when that vehicle was discontinued those looking for one of these bodies had no choice but scour ebay for one and sell their first born child to be able to afford it. Then late last year Tamiya announced that it would yet again release this body but this time it would be included with the CR01 rock crawling chassis. I can only imagine how many people must have bought that kit just for the body. Thankfully earlier this year Tamiya decided to yet again release this awesome shell back on the CC01 chassis. We bought one and the build begins…

Project Three Speed: Tamiya High Lift Build

projectthreespeedJust as we look back at the Tamiya Bruiser with great fondness I think years from now we’ll also be looking back at the Tamiya F350 High Lift as a kit we all wish we could have had. Project FJ40: Tamiya CR-01 Land Cruiser Build – Part 2

Part 2 of our project Tamiya Land Cruiser highlights what we find to be the most enjoyable part of this hobby, the build. I know a lot of people these days would rather it be built for them, but we were glad to hear that Tamiya would keeping up with tradition and offering the CR-01 only in kit form. Not only does that allow us the pleasure of building this beast from start to finish, but we also get to document it all for you along the way.

Finally got our hands on one! Ever since Tamiya announced the CR-01 Land Cruiser 40 I, as well as thousands of other enthusiasts, have been clamoring to get ahold of one. So follow along as we document the build of Tamiya’s first rock crawler, the Land Cruiser 40.
