Over 25 years ago Kyosho released the first Ultima 2wd buggy and today that buggy has evolved and grown into what you see here, the new Kyosho Ultima RB6. Much like we’ve been seeing from other manufacturers as of late, the Ultima RBS features a chassis design that allows the racer to decide whether they’d like to run a mid or rear motor layout. Other features include three piece big bore shocks, hard anodized 7075 aluminum chassis, racing ball differential, stick or saddle battery compatibility and a cab forward body design. The Kyosho RB6 is built on a high tech, hard anodized chassis that is made from 7075 aluminum. With a kickup on the front and angled sides the chassis of the RB6 reflects the technology of its 1/8th scale counterparts. An additional 13mm in length leads to increased stability with the massive power produced by today’s brushless motors.
The all new transmission in the RB6 is designed specifically to be small as possible while still be highly durable. This allows the motor and tranny to be placed very low in the chassis, giving the model a very low center of gravity for increased handling. The transmission in the RB6 is made so the motor can be mounted in both mid and rear positions. The Kyosho RB6 also features an externally adjustable ball differential and slipper clutch.
The Ultima RB6 chassis is designed to allow both stick and short saddle type battery packs with both rear and mid motor configurations.
The RB6 features a ball bearing equipped Ackerman style steering setup that is made from black anodized aluminum. The use of aluminum makes the steering highly precise in even the toughest of conditions.
Hex Clamp System
The hexes on RB6′s front and rear are each secured with a single screw preventing the loss of the drive pins.
The shock towers on the Kyosho RB6 are made from a special synthetic material which is highly stiff for its weight while still having the necessary flexibility in the event of a hard crash. Both shock towers have numerous mounting points.
“Triple” Big Bore Shocks
As the name implies the RB6′s big bore oil shocks consist of three separate components, the upper shock cap, the shock housing and a lower shock cap. They are made from high quality aluminum and are threaded for fine ride height adjustments. An o-ring on that adjustment prevents unwanted rotation.
More than 10 different body styles were tested in a wind tunnel and on track to achieve the perfect synthesis of performance and appearance. The resulting Kysoho RB6 body is a high tech cab forward design which ensure the best handling in all conditions.
